2024 Chevy Traverse: Engine, Interior, Trims

In 2024, Chevrolet has completely redesigned the popular Traverse, making this spacious midsize SUV even more appealing to families in Plano, Texas. From its state-of-the-art technology to its impressive performance, the all-new Chevy Traverse makes an impact. Keep reading for a full guide to the 2024 Chevy Traverse engine, interior, and trims.

Has the 2024 Chevy Traverse Interior Improved?

For 2024, Chevy has made substantial updates to the Traverse interior, starting with new technology. The Chevy Traverse now comes standard with an enormous 17.7-inch diagonal color touch screen. That’s over two times larger than the biggest available screen in the outgoing model. There’s also a larger 11-inch digital driver information center that displays driving information. Other high-tech features in the 2024 Traverse include six USB ports, available wireless phone charging, and Wi-Fi hot spot capability.

Throughout the cabin, the all-new Traverse features high-quality materials, like available leather-appointed upholstery. With optional heated front and second-row seats, you and your passengers can stay comfortable, even during the rare North Texas cold spells.

The 2024 Traverse features multiple interior storage solutions, including a pass-through center console where you can store a bag, wallet, or other essentials. In the back, you’ll get a best-in-class 98 cubic feet of cargo space when you fold down the second and third rows.

While much of the Chevy Traverse has improved, it continues to offer the same spaciousness that has made it one of the best-selling midsize SUVs on the market. The 2024 Traverse can seat up to eight passengers with numerous configurations for the second and third rows. On models with the SmartSlide feature, you can press a button to move the second row forward to get to the back easily, even with a child seat installed.

A Boatload of Power

Every 2024 Chevy Traverse comes powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine. It delivers an impressive 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, based on General Motors (GM) estimates. Compared with the outgoing version, the new Traverse is more powerful, with a 19% increase in torque. The Traverse engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth handling. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while available all-wheel drive offers enhanced traction. In the all-new Z71 trim, a twin-clutch all-wheel drive system provides even more capability when you’re ready to hit the trails.

The Chevy Traverse is fun to drive, but it’s practical, too. When properly equipped, the new Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds. This capacity allows you to bring your boat, jet skis, or small trailer with you on your next adventure.

A Variety of Trim Packages

Like previous generations, the new Chevy Traverse comes in a range of trim levels. This variety allows you to get all the features you want, whether it’s a panoramic sunroof or wireless charging. Here’s a breakdown of the trim levels for the 2024 Chevy Traverse.

LS

The Traverse LS kicks off the lineup, but it doesn’t skimp on desirable features. It comes with all-new front and rear lighting, including LED headlights. Inside, the LS offers seating for eight passengers with second- and third-row bench seats. Of course, it comes with the 17.7-inch touch screen and smartphone integration, so you can hook up your phone to listen to music or access your apps.

In addition to its premium features, the LS also comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of advanced driver assistance technologies. This system includes:

  • Automatic emergency braking.
  • Forward collision alert.
  • Following distance indicator.
  • Lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
  • Automatic high-beam headlights.
  • Front pedestrian and bicyclist braking.

Other standard safety features in the Traverse LS include an HD rear-vision camera, a safety alert seat, blind-spot alert, and rear cross-traffic alert with braking. These features remain consistent throughout the Traverse lineup, so you can feel confident when driving on the North Texas highways.

LT

Moving up to the LT trim unlocks some additional features to take your drive to the next level. It comes standard with seven-passenger seating, including second-row captain’s chairs with the SmartSlide feature. You can outfit the LT with available leatherette upholstery for an elegant interior look. There’s also the option of adding a panoramic dual-glass sunroof to let sunlight into the cabin. When you want to dim the interior, you can access a power sunshade with the touch of a button.

Other advanced features in the Traverse LT include roof rails and a power liftgate, so you can easily load or unload cargo. Inside, the LT features a power driver seat with four-way power lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless charging.

Z71

New for 2024, the Z71 trim joins the Traverse lineup. Perfect for those with a sense of adventure, the Traverse Z71 comes loaded with highly capable off-road features, including increased ground clearance, greater track width, and all-terrain tires. The Z71 also features unique dampers with hydraulic rebound control for improved capability, a terrain mode, hill descent control, and trailering equipment.

In addition to its off-road prowess, the Traverse Z71 makes a statement on the Plano-area roadways. It features a unique front fascia and signature Z71 red tow hooks. It rides on exclusive 18-inch high-gloss black machined-face wheels. Inside, the SUV features unique Z71 badging and embroidery. It’s also available with Super Cruise driver assistance technology, an innovative system that lets you drive hands-free on compatible roadways.

RS

At the top of the Traverse lineup, the RS trim includes all standard features, along with premium touches for an elevated ride. It comes with new 22-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels, as well as striking black accents on the grille, roof rails, and moldings. A unique suspension provides sporty handling, making the RS a thrill to drive. It also comes standard with a sunroof.

Once you step inside, you’ll find badging and embroidery specific to the RS model. The black leather-appointed seats feature red accents for a modern, sporty feel. Other luxury amenities, like one-touch power-folding second-row seats and a Bose audio system, make this SUV stand out from the rest.
