What Comes Standard In The 2024 Chevy Silverado?

The Chevrolet Silverado is an iconic full-sized truck that’s equally competent on a job site or a weekend adventure out of town. It’s equipped with a sturdy power train, an expansive cargo bed, and plenty of comfort features in the cabin. While there are many trim configurations and optional packages you can choose from, Chevy also offers a wide variety of impressive attributes in this truck’s base setup. Our Huffines Chevrolet team has put together some of the highlights on offer in the standard Silverado 1500 to show you what you can expect from this affordable pickup.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engine and Performance

The 2024 Silverado’s WT base trim is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine capable of producing 310 horsepower and a solid 430 lb-ft of torque. It’s perfect for hauling heavy loads in the cargo bed and can also handle most day-to-day driving situations with ease. For a full-sized truck, the standard engine is relatively fuel efficient. It achieves about 19 mpg on city roads and 22 mpg on the highway. There’s a 5.3-liter V-8 engine available as an optional extra.

Silverado 1500 Towing and Hauling

The standard Silverado gets the best cargo-hauling numbers in the lineup. With the Regular cab, standard or long cargo bed, and base turbocharged four-cylinder engine, you can haul up to 2,260 pounds. Depending on the configuration of your truck, you should be able to tow approximately 9,000 pounds with the standard equipment. If you move up the trim ladder and add an optional towing package, the Silverado can tow as much as 13,300 pounds.

Silverado 1500 Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The standard cab in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a single row of seats and can accommodate up to three people. This setup is ideal if you’re buying a truck principally for work purposes. The vinyl seat coverings are durable and easy to clean if they get dirty. Two other cabs on offer add a second row to accommodate more passengers. They’re available with cloth and leather upholstery options to give the inside a more comfortable feel.

The base WT trim is available with two cargo bed options. The first is the long bed, which measures 8 feet in length. Alternatively, you can get the standard-length bed that measures 6 feet 6 inches. Both of these provide plenty of space to store your luggage or work gear.

Silverado Infotainment Features

The standard entertainment system is designed with practicality in mind but still covers all the bases you’ll need. You can access your entertainment options through a 7-inch touch screen, which is paired with a two-speaker stereo. The truck is equipped with two USB ports and Bluetooth and has available smartphone compatibility, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster is provided so that you can easily monitor your truck’s performance.

Silverado Safety Tech

Chevy equips the Silverado with several standard safety features to make your job easier behind the wheel. The base setup includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking. When you’re on the highway, you’ll benefit from lane departure warning and lane-keep assist. The automatic high-beam headlights ensure you won’t distract other drivers and provide excellent visibility under various driving conditions. If you move up the trim ladder, you’ll gain access to a longer list of safety features.

Optional Upgrades in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Although the Silverado has a broad range of exciting standard features, there’s much more to this truck to discover among its optional upgrades that can help you meet your requirements. The Work Truck package gives you a couple of additional features to help with rough terrain, such as skid plates and an improved air filter. Off-roading enthusiasts will like the Z71 package, which contains hill-descent control, a locking rear differential, and a two-speed transfer case. It also comes with all-terrain tires and a metal underbody shield.

The Max Trailering package is a must-have for anyone regularly towing heavy loads. It includes a strengthened rear axle to help boost towing capacity, a trailer brake controller, and a larger radiator. Heavy-duty rear springs and a 220-amp alternator are also included to help your truck cope with the extra weight.

The cabin also benefits from available upgrades. The two optional cabs are called the Double cab and Crew cab, and they boost the capacity of this pickup to six people. The Crew cab offers enough legroom in the second row for adults, while the Double cab’s rear row is best reserved for kids. You can also add a larger infotainment screen measuring 13.4 inches. Other improvements include premium stereos, wireless device charging, and a navigation system.

There are multiple exciting engine options worth considering. In addition to the base engine we’ve already examined, there are two V-8s. The smaller of the two is a 5.3-liter unit capable of 355 horsepower, while the larger one can produce 420 horsepower. The fourth engine option is a turbodiesel that helps achieve the Silverado’s best towing numbers. It’s a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that puts out 305 horsepower.
