Which Chevrolet Crossover Is Right for Me?

Compact or subcompact SUVs are gaining in popularity. They use less fuel than larger SUVs, have plenty of interior room, and often have an electric vehicle (EV) option. There are several to choose from if you want a small Chevy SUV for your daily Plano commute or longer Texas adventures. The Bolt EV, the affordable compact Trax, and the fun-to-drive, adventurous Trailblazer are all great vehicles. Read as our experts at Huffines Chevrolet Plano share more information about why these compact and snappy SUVs stand out from others in this segment.

The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV

The Chevrolet Bolt is an affordable all-electric SUV. Chevy offers the Bolt EV in two trims: the 1LT and 2LT. This small SUV has many features that appeal to today’s drivers.

Exterior Design

The Bolt EV’s exterior features a futuristic design. It has a short front end, a rounded roof, and a sporty rear hatch. You can express your unique personality with exterior colors such as Bright Blue Metallic, Radiant Red Tintcoat, or Mosaic Black Metallic.

Power

Both Bolt EV trims have a 65 kWh battery pack under the floor. This battery sends power to an electric motor that produces 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. With this power and front-wheel drive, the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV can go from zero to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. Additional power features include one-pedal driving, Regen on Demand, and adjustable drive modes that help create an engaging driving experience. The Chevrolet Bolt has an EPA-estimated driving range of approximately 259 miles between charges.

Interior and Technology

Although small, the Bolt EV has ample room with two rows of seats that can fit up to five people. The back seat offers 36 inches of legroom. With flexible seating configurations, you can get up to 57 cubic feet of storage space inside the 2023 Bolt EV. Add the Comfort and Convenience Package to the 1LT trim, and you’ll get heated driver and front passenger seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

While GM discontinued the Bolt EV in 2024, it plans to release a next-generation Bolt. Stay tuned to learn more about the new Bolt and its key features. We’ll update you as we learn more about this beloved Chevy EV.

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact SUV the brand redesigned for 2024. You can get this ultra-modern-looking small SUV in five trims: the LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and the sporty ACTIV.

Exterior Design

This subcompact SUV has an athletic exterior design with a large front grille bracketed by sharp-looking LED headlights and large daytime running lights stacked below the headlights. Depending on the trim, the 2024 Trax has performance-oriented wheels, roof rails, and 17- to 19-inch wheels. Enjoy fun exterior colors, such as Cacti Green, Nitro Yellow Metallic, or Cayenne Orange Metallic.

Power and Performance

You’ll find a zippy 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged ECOTEC engine that produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque under the hood of all the Trax trims. A six-speed automatic transmission completes the powertrain, and this small SUV comes with front-wheel drive. Front MacPherson struts and a compound crank rear suspension system add to the agile handling of the 2024 Trax.

Interior and Technology

Up to five people can ride comfortably inside the two-row Trax. You’ll get leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats, and automatic climate control as you move up the trims. There’s plenty of room for supplies and luggage inside the Trax. With both rows of seats upright, you get up to 25.6 cubic feet of storage space, and with the second-row seats folded down, you can get up to 54.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

This small SUV has an infotainment system featuring an 8- or 11-inch touch screen, depending on the trim. All trims have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

The 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The 2024 Trailblazer is one of Chevrolet’s adventurous small SUVs. It comes in four trims: the LS, LT, RS, and ACTIV.

Exterior Design

The Trailblazer stands out from other compact SUVs with its sporty stance, optional two-tone roof on the ACTIV trim, and sporty wheel designs. The two-tone exterior colors add an extra touch of fun to the Trailblazer, with choices such as Fountain Blue/Summit White, Copper Harbor Metallic/Summit White, or Sterling Gray Metallic/Summit White.

Power and Performance

Compared to the Chevrolet Trax, the Trailblazer has a couple of engine options to choose from. The base engine is a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with an output of 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. Choose the optional all-wheel-drive system, and you’ll get a 1.3-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission completes this powertrain. The off-road-oriented ACTIV trim gets specialized suspension tuning, underbody skid plates, and all-terrain tires.

Interior and Technology

Up to five people fit on the two rows of seats inside the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Moving up the trims or adding features gets you synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. Cargo space runs from 25.3 cubic feet to 54.3 cubic feet when you fold the second-row seats.

All trims come with an 11-inch diagonal HD color touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, push-button start, and available wireless charging.
