5 Most Popular Kid-Friendly Activities To Do in Plano, Texas

Getting out and about with the kids and family helps to create lasting memories and close bonds. When you want to head out for the day for kid-friendly activities in the Plano, Texas, area, you’re in luck. Check out these five cool and fun things to do that are interesting and educational.

Visit the Heritage Farmstead Museum

Step back in time to experience what life was like in the Blackland Prairie of Texas when you visit the Heritage Farmstead Museum at 1900 W. 15th St. Everyone in the family will enjoy the displays, exhibits, special events, and the numerous animals found around the farm.

The historic farmhouse and surrounding buildings were built in 1891 by the Farrell family. This wealthy family grew wheat and raised sheep on the 365-acre piece of property. In 1972, after the passing of the final family member, the Plano Heritage Museum took possession of the farmhouse and 4.5 acres of the property to preserve its architecture and legacy.

When planning a visit to the Heritage Farmstead Museum, schedule time to tour the farmhouse and admire the magnificent craftsmanship of the building. View the rotating exhibit collections that include educational information such as an overview of pioneer life, Victorian holiday displays, or a tribute to the firefighters of the Plano Fire Department.

In the museum, you’ll see artifacts from the old farmstead and elegant furnishings inside the house. Check the website for the Heritage Farmstead Museum’s special events and summer kids programs, and don’t forget to visit the farm animals.

Play at Crayola Experience

Have a fun and colorful time when you visit the exciting Crayola Experience. The kids can stop by the Activity Studio to make crafts to help develop their creative skills. They can become problem solvers in the Adventure Lab, have their photo turned into a coloring page at Be a Star, and have fun in the Scribble Square where they can draw on the floor and walls with chalk.

After a full day of creativity and play, stop by the Cafe Crayola to enjoy pizza, burgers, chicken fingers, and salads to satisfy any food craving. Before you leave Crayola Experience, visit the Crayola Store to stock up on Crayola products, pick up souvenirs, and collect specialty T-shirts and apparel that the kids will enjoy wearing. You can find Crayola Experience at 6121 W. Park Blvd. Suite A100 at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.
